Jacob Gordon I bought this album a couple days ago and I’ve already listened to it about a hundred times. Every track on here is math rock gold. Favorite track: A Poodle With Excuses.

stevebud I saw a reddit post from one of the members with a link to their bandcamp. So glad I followed it! I love the display of skill and the variety of moods. Favorite track: Stiff Jazz.

Looking at a limp-lid, weak eye drool. View's no further than the edge of the pool sharks growing up too fast. They need a plan 'cause their gills are packed. We hold our breath and count our fins, we learned to float but not to swim. We'll walk again with splints for shins, must be the water we're in.

I, the central point of a cracked vessel bound with chewing gum. Here's the size of my star, or the rate that it burns at. Is this trip a new one? Is my book long enough? Forget the fiction; I want to remember every second, every inch that I crawl. It's the truth in my choice to move the coil, and jump over holes where I sharpened my heels.
5.
We swim to meet. You are where you are. I am where I am. There was always a body between, 'cause I could see you peerin' at me, but I don't know what's really in the middle.

about

"Elusive Firsts will surely strike a chord with the emo revival nerds, pop punkers, jazz dorks, and math rock pundits alike, borrowing from each of these genres to forge its sound. This is an album so densely packed with instrumental quirks and interludes that there’s going to be something you like in here. Trust us, it’s a very dense fruit tree." - Nikk Hunter (Fecking Bahamas)

"The first featured song, "Stiff Jazz," opens with frenetic pacing and a 'twinkle attack' of a guitar riff. This song undoubtedly is a fine showcase of the band's skills, with busy drumming patterns and 'Floral' like phrasing, this song is sure to be a hit with everyone in the instrumental rock community. Orchestral strings make an appearance later on in the form of a viola. The viola in this song has a tone like that of a rusty nail grinding through to your bone, it's a very earthy and gutteral addition to this stand out track." - The Math Rock Times
